Ruth 1:20-21 (NLT)20 “Don’t call me Naomi,” she responded. “Instead, call me Mara for the Almighty has made life very bitter for me. 21 I went away full, but the Lord has brought me home empty. Why call me Naomi when the Lord has caused me to suffer and the Almighty has sent such tragedy upon me?”
Sometimes the hardest person on us is ourselves. We have these unreal expectations of ourselves and when we don’t measure up to them then we come down on ourselves. We start to feel like Naomi does in the above scriptures. One thing we have to realize is that there will be some things that we have to go through that are not because of sin.
This life is full of trials and tribulations but it’s who you have to go through with you that make the difference. You don’t have to change your name because you are going through. You don’t have to hold your head down because you are going through. You are still a child of God. You are still important to God. You are still beautiful in God’s eyesight. This trial is not your end. This test will not cause you to fail the course. You are still a winner!
You are who you are because God created you. Your circumstances don’t cancel out what God has already ordained. You are still full! Let me say that one more time. You are still full! Someone wants to know what they are full of. You are full of strength. You are full of joy. You are full of peace. You are full of favor. You are full of the Spirit. You are full of love. You are full of blessings overflowing. You are full of wisdom. You are full of grace and mercy.
That’s why you can hold your head high even in the midst of your tears because you are still pleasant to God. God doesn’t make life bitter for us He makes it better! Tell yourself my life is better with God than without Him. Don’t change your name just change your outlook.
Father, renew my outlook on life and help me to see the best in every situation. In Jesus’ name, amen!
